The Story Behind Red Pelican Travel

I’m Stephanie, and I’m based in St. Petersburg, Florida, a city that never stops inspiring me. I’ve always been drawn to discovery: the anticipation of a new place and the experience of actually being there.

As a kid growing up in New Hampshire, it was waiting to see the view from the top of the mountain on weekend ski trips. It was swimming at Lower Falls along the Kancamagus Highway on summer weekends. I didn’t think about it then, but I was learning to pay attention, to notice what made a place feel the way it did.

As I got older, that curiosity grew. I wanted to understand the meaning of where I was, visiting historical sites and cultural landmarks, taking it all in. An extended stay in New Mexico gave me time to do that, to actually settle in and get to know somewhere instead of just passing through.

That curiosity still draws me. I look for the stories in my surroundings, the way people live, the traditions woven into everyday life, and what makes a place feel the way it does.

That’s what led me here, and eventually to starting Red Pelican Travel. The name came from home. The red pelicans at the St. Pete Pier welcome every visitor to the city, and that sense of community is exactly what I wanted Red Pelican Travel to represent.

This is just the beginning; stay tuned.
