The Story Behind Red Pelican Travel

I’m Stephanie, founder of Red Pelican Travel in St. Petersburg, Florida.

I’ve always been drawn to discovery. It’s not just the anticipation of a new place, but the experience of being there.

Growing up in New Hampshire, I learned early on to notice what made a place feel the way it did. I saw it in the mountain views on ski weekends and summer days at Lower Falls along the Kancamagus.

As I got older, that curiosity deepened. I wanted to understand the meaning of where I was. I looked for the history, the culture, the everyday rhythms, and the stories woven into a place.

An extended stay in New Mexico gave me time to settle in and experience that more fully. It taught me how much you can find when you aren’t just passing through.

That way of seeing the world is what led me to create Red Pelican Travel.

The name came from my current home: the red pelicans at the St. Pete Pier. They are the city’s welcoming committee. To me, they captured the sense of place and community I wanted the brand to carry.

Red Pelican Travel is rooted in authentic travel experiences and connection. It’s not just about where you go, but how a place stays with you.

I’m using this space to share travel perspectives, destination highlights, and what’s worth noticing along the way, all through my lens.

A quick note: Red Pelican Travel is currently in a repositioning phase, and advisory planning services are on pause for now. Services are expected to resume in Fall 2026.
